Papillion Fit is a running club geared towards the runners in Papillion and surrounding communities.  It is the brainchild of the Papillion-La Vista South High School cross country staff.  As we worked with our high school athletes and run or drive around town, we noticed that Papillion is a community full of runners.  So we started brainstorming how we could provide a service to connect and invest in the runners of the Papillion Area.  This led to the creation of the Papillion Fit Running Club.  Our official start was May of 2013.

Who is behind Papillion Fit?

Jeremy Haselhorst--Head girls cross country coach at Papillion-La Vista South High School.  He also serves as an assistant track coach.  He has been at PL South since it opened in 2003 and helped build both the cross country and track programs from scratch.  He competed in cross country & track in high school at Norfolk Catholic.  His competition days expired a long time ago, and now he gets to enjoy running just for the sake of running.

Jerrid Johansen--Head girls track coach at Papillion-La Vista South High School.  He also serves as the boys assistant cross country coach.  He competed in cross country & track in high school at Centura.  He continues to train for races.

Shannon Stenger--Head boys cross country & track coach at Papillion-La Vista South High School.  He also coached at Omaha Central High School before moving to PL South.  He competed in cross country & track in high school at North Bend, collegiately at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, and post-collegiately with Team Nebraska.

Where did the name Papillion Fit come from?

Shannon Stenger gets credit for our name.  We really like all that it embodies with regards to running.  If you are a serious runner, you are always looking to increase your level of fitness.  If you are a beginning runner, you may be looking to simply get fit.  No matter who you are we think it is a great compliment to be considered FIT.
